I think I might have told Broad but drummer guy offered to take Turtle under his wing and teach him the drums.
He's actually been on me for awhile now to bring Turtle into the shop and let him sort of play around, and I just have never done it. So when we blew the party off and went to grab some beers the other weekend, he brought it up again. I said, all right... we'll see...
I took Turtle in to see the drums a week or so ago... and he seemed excited about it. I mean what little boy doesn't like to bang around on stuff? He seems to like Drummer guy too... but Turtle likes everybody. I mean pretty much... he's an easy going kid.
So tomorrow we start the lessons... I had a voicemail from DG on my machine when I got home confirming it.
I try to expose Turtle to as much as I can... try to let him make the decisions on what he likes and what he doesn't...
Today at the pool, another mother (who's son was playing with mine) told me that Turtle "always seemed so happy. Just a real happy child."
As a mom... that's up there on the compliment scale. I work hard at that happiness for Turtle.
If other people notice that Turtle seems happy all the time it must be so. Therefore you must be a great Mom. I kinda figured that anyway.
My half-brother is getting ready to learn the drums, too. A drummer friend of ours said it's good to get 'em started early. Teaches them that whole pesky coordination thing, lol. (Maybe I should start. ha!) If you want him to be able to practice at home, too (ah the noise), you can get a good priced starter drum kit at Strings & Things; along with practice tapes.
Good luck to him.
